Pricing

Engagement fees are scoped and quoted individually based on the services requested, duration, and complexity. Standard monthly retainers generally start at USD 3,000 (or JPY equivalent), with fixed-fee advisory projects quoted separately. Final pricing is set out in each client’s Engagement Letter.

Additional costs

  • Domestic bank transfer fees: generally ¥150 – ¥1,760.
  • International bank transfer fees: generally ¥1,500 – ¥5,000.
  • Pre-approved travel, translation, or third-party costs incurred in the course of the engagement, billed at cost.
  • Japanese consumption tax (10%) is applied where required by law.

Accepted payment methods

Most major credit cards and domestic or international bank transfer. Credit-card payments are processed immediately; bank transfers must be received by the due date shown on each invoice.

Delivery and lead times

Service delivery begins immediately upon (i) a signed Engagement Letter and (ii) confirmed payment of the first invoice, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Trial period, cancellations & renewals

We offer a 3-month initial trial period on most retainer engagements so clients can evaluate the fit of our services. During the trial period, a client may cancel at any time, in writing, with no additional charges beyond the trial.

After the trial period, cancellation requires written notice at least 30 days before the end of the then-current term. Contracts generally renew automatically for 1-year terms unless a cancellation notice is received at least 30 days before the renewal date. A renewal reminder is sent to the client’s contact email at least 45 days before the renewal date.

We are open to discussing modifications or earlier termination in extraordinary circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Refunds

Because our services are professional consulting services rendered on a time-and-deliverables basis, fees for services already performed are non-refundable. Pre-paid fees for a future period will be refunded on a pro-rata basis where a cancellation is validly made in accordance with the section above.

Confidentiality

All client information is treated as strictly confidential. We sign mutual NDAs as standard and implement information-security controls commensurate with the sensitivity of the work. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle personal information.

Governing law

Unless otherwise stipulated in an Engagement Letter, engagements are governed by the laws of Japan, with exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court of first instance.
